New Updates….

Standard

Okay, so I am *slowly* starting to get some work done on projects.

KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE BD – version 2

– I have 2 different caps direct from the LD.  The LDs still suffer from hum, surface noise, clicks, pops (it is the analog mono track), but this is being fussy.  Compared to the previous version, these are magnitudes better.  I took the cleaner copy and cleaned it up more (eclick, pop removal, removed static and hum as best as I could without making it all sound tinny and adding unwanted transients and removing stuff I wanted, and other crap).  Strange issues with the Music + Effects (M+E) track slipping and sliding early or late compared to the Japanese track, though I am kind of getting used to weird crap like this.  Not much I can do about most of this.  I made a few cuts/splices with added or removed delay, but most of this film has music, or really quiet ambint noise that would sound really terrible with silence cut in.  Most of the sfx shouldn’t be noticeably off, it is usually 100 ms or less (many people don’;t bother syncing past 4-5 frames or 150 ms, in general… I am just more fastidious).

– I have a Ukranian dub.  It is a fan-dub, but apparently has some TV pros working on it too.  Dedicated In memory of Nikolai Alekseevich Lukasz. Translation and dubbing performed by “Three Dots.” This will be added, but it has some syncing issues that simple cutting and splicing with delays won’t completely fix.  Not sure I want to get into transcoding it to wav to break into a million pieces to time stretch small bits diff amounts.  All the HD rips out there have it as-is.  I am just anal, I guess.  Possibly I wil get a dubsub made from this, for Ukrainians to watch with, as I know of no actual Ukr subs.  I suppose some other cyrillic subs may also be helpful, but I can’t edit these myself.

– found better sources (from the DVDs) for a few audio tracks.

– looking for more subs and things to add, so long as the subs are cleaned up (no misspellings or ocr errors, no grammatical nonsense, and other crap), Must be synced to the BD, and otherwise not a screwed up mess.  I cannot edit other language’s subs!  Contact me if you have good subs to add.  If you need a workraw to sync subs, let me know.

LUPIN_III_TVSP_1995_PURSUIT_OF_HARIMAO’S_TREASURE

– I am redoing the dub sync from scratch.  major issues due to a) Funimation truncating the tail off some audio at their chapter points, and b) having to cut AC3 files on AC3 packet boundaries (if I want to sync all these bits to one whole without transcoding audio at all)..  These 2 issues together make me required to cut at the chapter point to add in delay, but trimming at the exact spot between audio in one chapter and the next is freaking impossible.  Cutting at the AC3 boundaries creates a pause (stutter) either at the end of the previous chapter point or at the start of the next chapter’s audio.  I have to fake it by adding unwanted delays at other points before and then re-try and other malarkey.

LUPIN III VS THE CLONE (AKA, MYSTERY OF MAMO, AKA THE SECRET OF MAMO)

– I originally planned to do the full Blu-Ray with subs and all the dubs thing myself, but it looks like AkaiShuichi is taking over a good chunk of the audio syncing, will sync subs.  I am working on the Geneon 2.0 mix from the DiscoTek DVD.  (edit: I may not even be doing that).

Some other projects going on,too.

Lupin III TV Special 1995 Pursuit of Harimaos Treasure R2J – English Subbed and Dubbed

(screens taken at storage aspect ratio by MPC-HC; I may make some at DAR at somee point)

okay, so I haven’t officially wrapped this one up yet. I still have to work on the subs. I plan to try to have both of Funimation’s subtitle streams, the one that goes with the dub and the one that goes with Japanese audio.

speaking of the dub: to call this arduous and onerous would be like calling the crackwhores that hang out with my mullet-headed neighbor “maybe a bit loose.” In other words, a gross understatement. And speaking of loose — geez, fiunimation’s syncing and mastering are a mess.
holy mother of Fuck was that a royal pain in the ass to sync! Not only did I have to demux the R1 audio separated into pieces at every fucking chapter using DVD Decrypter, I had to further split these chapter chunks in a bunch of pieces and add and remove more delay from each piece using delaycut and eac3to and vegas to monitor the sync progress.
Then I watched it and found more things to nitpick and redo.
If I were getting paid, I would probably finesse this some ore, but for fuck’ssake, what the hell does Funimation do to add and reove so many goddamn frames at every scene change and ad break? their masters are total shit.

try keeping track of buckets of audio snippets, and editing these and adding or removing delay, all losslessly in delaycut and mending the bits in eac3to cli, see if you can handle it. 😀

it could actually use more minor edits adding or removing delay, trimming start end times and making more splices, where it slips and slides… but that is enough for me.

Btw, I added in the original R2J ending too, since Funi truncated the Ending song by a couple minutes.
that HAD to be transcoded from the R2J audio, since the Funi bitrate is 256k and R2J was 384k, and no way can i merge 2 diff bitrates with eac3to cli tool, let alone mux it in scenarist or muxman if I could.

want an idea of the fun(imation) I had?
just look at the filename for my synced dub:

English – ch 1f+2+3f+4f+5+6+7+8+9+10A+10B+11A+11B+12+13+14+15+16+17+18+19+20f+JpnEnd_PART 1A+1B.AC3

the thing about the Funi ending is it is a non-vocal mix which I like, but they fade it out fast, and I can’t mux it in Scenarist with that much audio descrepency, unless I add silence, but the credits still roll where as Funi had them shortened and localized ONLY (even though they use angles on the DVD for other Eng or Jpn titles), and I thought a fast fade out to 2 minutes of silence while credits roll is weird.

makes me want to avoid all Funimation dubs for adding to other Lupin R2J DVDs.
retiming subs is going to suck monster donkey schlongs b/c of the very same slip and slide adding and removing frames they did.
sloppy hacks.

I should get a job in this business, since professionals sure churn out some substandard work.

I finished the dub a few days ago, no time for subs yet.

The good news is that it will mux in the R2J with subs and not have to be transcoded. Atleast my preliminary remux of R2J audio/video with dub and R1 sup files. The only difference is my subs will be re-rendeered, and the bitrate on them will be much higher than the official R1 sup files (official fugly DVD subs, you know the score), they may just tip over max bitrate if I try to use a really nice font and styling for DVD… see bitrate graph below.

comparing R2J video to R1 video, bitrate and time, etc.

image host

So, you may wonder: how is the R2J video?
It’s not great, tbh.

imagebam.com

It surely beats the Funi video to a pulp, but how hard is that? Perhaps I will make a comparison on same frames at some point.
But the R2J suffers terrible interlacing and telecine wobble garbage and blended frames, being a 29.97 interlaced encoding, rather than a nice progressive video or utilizing some soft telecine…

Perhaps the BD is better, I will have to hope so.

updates on the custom later, when my family life allows time for sub editing.

So after many more days, I have a pretty good version of the subs done for the Japanese audio. It seriously took several days to tweak each line, and still needs more timing work. Considering the inordinate amount of work to sync the English subs for Japanese audio, I suspect I will skip syncing the dubsubs track for English audio, it was a huge pain in the ass of days of straight work on the other subs. If I skip the dubsubs, I will, however, include a copy of the opening credits/ titles translations, as well as my closing warning:

imagebam.com

… and I mean this, too!

speaking of Opening and Ending, I am going to try to include the FUNimation English angles as an extra on my fan disc. Here’s hoping I figure out how to add it in with Scenarist and make it selectable (even as an easter egg). I imported it to my scenario, but have no clue how to link it up with navi commands. 😐

Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989) AVC 1080p BD50 – Custom Streamline/JAL Dub, Multi-Dubs and Multi-Fansubs

Well, I went well beyond my original prospects, and added a lot to the retail Japanese version. Originally I only expected to add the Streamline dub and maybe modified retail dubsubs and perhaps the Nikaku Animart script.

….The first official English dub of Kiki’s Delivery Service was produced by Carl Macek of Streamline Pictures at the request of Tokuma Shoten for Japan Airlines’ international flights.[19] Kiki was portrayed by the late voice actress Lisa Michelson. This dub is only available in the Ghibli Laserdisc Box Set.[/color]

Q: Is there an English subtitled version of “Kiki”?

Sort of.

Disney released a subbed VHS version sometime in 1998 (now out-of-print), but it’s based on the Streamline/JAL English dub. Why did this happen? Ryoko Toyama explains:
Tokuma gave the Streamline script to Disney thinking that it was an accurate translation, and Disney worked on it. Several things that were not in the original Japanese script migrated to the BV subtitles.

All DVDs contain the same English subtitles (more appropriately called dubtitles).

source: http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/kiki/faq.html

For more information on the differences between the 3 English dubs, please read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiki%27s_Delivery_Service#Differences_between_versions

This custom BD contains multiple English fansub scripts, as opposed to the dubsubs (based on the Streamline/JAL dub) which are present on ALL retail Ghibli BDs, DVDs and VHS of Kiki, as noted above from the nausicaa.net Q&A.
My custom also contains that ultra-rare Streamline dub, in the only version available in the wild at the moment, which only recently surfaced; as well it contains 5.1 versions of the Japanese audio and both versions of the Disney dub (1998 and 2010), and multiple other audio streams added as well.
I hope for this to be the definitive edition of this film for most people.

MORE ABOUT THE AUDIO:

The ultra-rare Streamline/JAL dub, found only on the Japanese Ghibli ga Ippai LD Box set: my copy is not in fantastic shape, but after years of searching, having finally found a copy of a cap is better than the big zero I had before. It is from a 20 year old VHS — i.e. LD to 20 year old VHS cap to low-fi MP3. I don’t know how many generations of VHS were in there, but also a VHS tape had clearly recorded Kiki over other things, as evidenced in the background chatter heard in quieter sections. There was also one tape stretch with terrible feedback that required fading out the noise and splicing and re-merging the sections to keep in sync. There is a passagge where dialog drops out there (just as Kiki is about to leave home for her journey, the local girls expressing jealousy are mildly interrupted) — it does so in the VHS, I only removed annoying noise. (I also tried to substitute a crossfade in of some of Disney’s dub or the Jpn to prevent the sudden loss of audio, but I couldn’t get it to work). The noise floor changed all over the place, especially around 1 hour 14 and a half minutes, so a noise reduction pass was done in Cool Edit (thanks neo1024 for the NR setting) — this also helped eliminate some background chatter from old VHS recordings under Kiki. As the quality was already hit, I din’t want to recompress to deteriorate it more, so I left in LPCM. This and true subs were my main original intent for making a custom BD.

I added both versions of the Disney dub (1998 and 2010) in 5.1, untouched from R1 DVDs. The BD has the newer 2010 version of their dub already on it, but only in 2.0 (all the retail BD audio is 2.0). I also added the 5.1 Japanese from a R1 DVD and a 5.1 Spanish (from R1) and 5.1 Cantonese (from R3HK), for the same reason as including the 5.1 of the 2010 Disney, since they are 5.1. I synced all these losslessly with delaycut.
I also added a bunch of other audio that was already a bit modified (PAL to NTSC timestretching, which for AC3 necessitates converting to wav then re-compressing to AC3 if they can’t all be LPCM); they needed more syncing and some were a bit shy on stretch factor: the Russian voice over dub really needs more timestretching, but i skipped doing it, since I don’t care enough about voice-over dubs, so i just di my best for an over-all sync; while the Dutch dub needed more timestretching, too, which I did for this one since it was an Nth generation trascoded file in AAC format, and needed recompressed to AC3 anyhow to use on a BD, so I converted AAC to wav, stretched the wav before recompressing in Sonic Audio Transcoder (Dolby Surround Encoding was set to on, though BDInfo doesn’t pick it up).

All in all there were eleven audio tracks added to this, making for a total of 17 audio choices!

MORE ABOUT THE FANSUB SUBTITLE SCRIPTS:

I have three full fansub subtitle tracks added here.
Two subtitle scripts are from ericf. He modified the NIKAKU ANIMART script, and also worked on one by CENTRAL ANIME, and made more changes to them based on the Japanese retail subtitles. I also modified some in each, especially to the CA script (mostly in the English song lyrics). My Japanese is rudimentary at best, but I can change awkward English and klunky song lyrics to flow better.
texhonolize also provided a script based upon NIKAKU ANIMART script, a good bit less modified if that is more to your liking.

All in all I added 4 TRUE English subtitle tracks (the remaining one is songs/signs for the Jpn songs, to go with Japanese audio, Streamline dub or 2010 Disney Eng dub; it won’t go with the 1998 Disney Eng, nor any of the other dubs, since they all localized it with very different music at OP/ED, and also music in the movie is changed, and even some sfx… some really changed the BGM music dramatically, others did less so but changed it; I think some was done by Joe Hisaishi still, just scored differently. All of the custom subtitle tracks are stylized very differently, aside from having differences in script. It may not please you that I treated it this way, but it suits me.

I would have subtitled and dubbed the Storyboard feature, but we are lucky it even made it on here in raw. More on that below….

MORE ABOUT THE AUTHORING

This was a difficult disc to reauthor. Ghibli uses The Panasonic Authoring Center Roppongi (PACR), which creates things in such a way that Scenarist wants to commit suicide upon trying to mux the disc — even without any subs or audio added, just the original disc won’t remux directly back to BD at all. I had to creatively work around tons of issues. I honestly thought much of the disc would need stripped in order to mux. It actually was, but I was able to edit the stuff back in after muxing, so no great loss.

For whatever reason, the flags to default to certain audio and subs is not being honored when I put them in this disc.
I blame Panasonic’s weird authoring system.

fwiw, hamletiii, had repeatedly suggested not to go near Ghibli BDs.
He first told me this years ago with Ponyo. Then, recent examples, when I asked about really buggy shit in this disc, he maintained the same thought, that Ghibli BDs are quite the buggered pain (my words).

I went in knowing the disc was going to be tough, and it met my expectations… and more.

Quote:

The original disc is authored by a different software – presumably some customized Panasonic system. It doesn’t follow the BD spec that Scenarist likes to see. Any studio Ghibli just give up, problem solved.

then….
Quote:

Too much trouble, just give up.

Me being stubborn, I kept at it. =P

Next I plan on attempting to do Totoro, too. :w00t:

If anyone can translate all the menu and submenu buttons and options, I will customize that as well in bdedit and photoshop and upload a version 2 for anyone wanting a localized menu. It can’t be done in Photoshope Designer and imported to Scenarist, since many of the menus and extras m2ts/clpi/mpls files would not mux in Scenarist BD, and had to be stripped from before muxing, and re-added after muxing, and edited back in.

Huge thanks go out to:
strathacker at originaltrilogy for sharing the Streamline dub cap mp3. Obtaining this was the impetuous force that led to finally do this custom BD. I wanted to add this and real subs to DVDs and BDs of Kiki for ages.
wilfried & neo1024, both for going above and beyond helping me get some files and in many other ways, too many to count!;
ericf for his own custom mutations of the CA and NA fansubs scripts, his edits made with aid of Jpn official subs;
texhonolize for working on a different version of the NA script and sharing with me;
also thanks to JackJack, cjdark (for R1 audio), ANDARIAL (for the other R1 audio), and Krudda for their help along the way!
anyone else I forgot — I apologize!

If anyone notices any errors, please let me know. Be specicific. If it is a flicker in subs or some glitch — tell me WHICH sub/audio tracks and at what time it occurs.
I cannot realistically QC eleven audio tracks and four subs tracks, for just a fan project, and make sure all the disc is working correctly again as the retail does, after having to strip things out for muxing and editing back in! Especially the PiP on the Storyboard feature kept breaking for some odd reason.

I have done QC on the PC only with Sonic QC, PowerDVD 12, and TMT 5, as well as MPC-HC. I don’t have rewriteable BD50s any longer, and cannot afford them, so this has not been tested on a burnt disc on a hardware SAP.
NB: PowerDVD 12 kind of plays the PiP, but disables moving it around and accessing the submenu after you select the placement. It does the same on the retail. There is an update for BDs for PDVD12, but since I use a cracked version I haven’t tried it out. It worked as expected in TMT5, and definitely was fine in Sonic QC. Subs are not appearing correctly in MPC-HC, and in the past I found VLC mungs all my BDs, so both MPC-HC and VLC are NOT suggested for playback at all! Because of this, my full resolution screens with subs can’t be taken in MPC-HC; I will have to use Sonic QC and use windows screen capture at desktop resolution (less than 1080 in my case).

Screens of subs. Just to see what the fansub streams look like!
(NOTE: MPC-HC was not properly displaying the subs — they were off-center and some larger DisplaySets didn’t show in screens at all, just like vlc does, so you’ll have to suffer non-full-rez screens taken at desktop resolution with Sonic QC playing movie).

I am accepting donations for a new HDD and for rewriteable BD50s to QC discs like this on my Samsung Stand Alone Player, so I can continue to make more projects like this and make sure they work on more than a PC. This took over 250 GB HDD space across a few drives at some points, requiring me to delete other raws to complete, among other obstacles. I really don’t like doing that sort of thing. Any help is greatly appreciated!

See my profile or blog for a list of many of my current intended DVD and BD projects, including Totoro and Panda! Go Panda! Blu-rays.

Akira and Gundam Wing Endless Waltz BDs are both done, except waiting to try to localize the menu options into English and add buttons for the added audio and subs.

I seed when I am able to. I may go offline till morning, shortly after uploading. Be patient and you’ll get it.

(It would also be swell if the encoders that find this might think of giving some credit out when they make their encodes, rather than passing it all off as your own work…. even, or should I say, especially when some of them can’t be arsed into helping me get the audio from the R1 DVDs for making this custom, nor even respond to pms). :o)

Concise Updates on Some Current and Recent Projects

Standard

Lupin Return of Pycal Blu-Ray with ocred hardcoded fansubs, not bootleg subs that are softsubbed everywhere. DONE!
Lupin Cagliostro BD custom subs and both English dubs, maybe other subs+dubs
Lupin Mamo BD with all 4 dubs and subs. (waiting on the Mamo DVD from DT to be released, to see if their copy of the old JLA dub sounds better, or atleast cleaned up better by them).
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz R2J custom subs and dub DONE!
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz BD custom subs and dub DONE! – May edit menu and add buttons, otherwise it is completed (but not QCed on SAP)
Vifam R2J (slowly).. still need 2nd half of series DVDs (scripts are taking a long time to tweak for DVD, unfortunately, but I really want this one to be done because I really like the series!)
Akira BD Add Streamline dub capped from Criterion LD, which is actually a Stereo track, unlike the R2UK/R4AU and VHS mono track. Thanks to Biberwesen for the capped audio! DONE! – May edit menu and add buttons, otherwise it is completed (but not QCed on SAP)
Kiki’s Delivery Service BD Add the Streamline dub to the BD (and perhaps older version of Disney dub, the pre-2010 re-release version), and perhaps edited official subs. I am cleaning up the mp3 source for the Streamline dub (the ONLY copy currently availble is an mp3 from a LDcap to VHS), and trying to expand the Stereo imaging (upmix). The mp3 source was already slightly stereo rather than the original mono. The Kiki’s BD is a mess which may require a main movie and custom or rebuilt menu ONLY. doesn’t bode well for Totoro, either. (more comments on this may be forthcoming).
Totoro BD add Fox/Streamline dub. Perhaps add edited official subs.
Kabuto OVA Custom Subbed and Dubbed LD>DVDISO edition; dub from the VHS>DVDISO [PAL] (this one takes time for the script and ocr)! — also currently the dual audio is making it go over bitrate (subs not added yet — trying to find a good balance of transcoding audio which will still sound okay)
Panda! Go Panda! ITA BD with subs and dubs added.
Lupin – Hemingway Papers BD with fansubs
Lupin – Woman Called Fujiko Mine BD with Funimation subs, maybe some from Sage mixed in. If dub isn’t terrible, I may wait for the US BDs to add dub from them.
Dirty Pair while I was farting around trying to figure out how to edit the menus of my version (my adaptation of Gloval’s version, actually, all I have done is add the Streamline dub from a VHS cap I got from drgonzo369), with subs and both dubs added, well, since then there has been an R1 release with both dubs and subs, and remastered video that is nearly as good as the R2J video. Still not sure if I should bother to continue with this.
+numerous Lupin and Gundam projects
+numerous other things….
but this is a good idea of what I have going on.

I was also fortunate enough to get a copy of some subtitles created by B*, for compiling a custom subbed version of the R2J DVD/ Japanese 144 Minute Cut of Guilty of Romance, by Sion Sono. B* took the DEU BD subs and mixed it with the UK subs; he translated from German the lines missing from this extended cut and has given us an English script for this uncut version, heretofore without an English translation.

I am also helping to edit the English fansub script of Final Fantasy Legend of the Crystals [DKLF/KLF], being used for a modern fansub version. I am going slowly (as always due to RLS and young kids that prefer me playing Legos than playing with videos and audio and subs). So far I have only completed a general v1 of edits for ep 1, but I think it will help it quite a bit in fluidity and remove some awkwardness.
If anyone has the Jpn LDs to cap to lossless or other similar high bitrate format, for an LD to AVCHD (BD5s) or LD to DVD version, please contact me.
Also I am looking for high quality caps of the US LDs for the English dub. If nothing else, US VHS caps would be quite acceptable if you have a decent cap setup. I have some copies of the dub, but they could be better quality.
I want to make dual audio/ subbed DVDs or AVCHD/BD5 discs, obviously. I lean toward BD5 for higher bitrate, better encoder (AVC/264).

I used kiches’s Custom subbed R2J as a base, I have added a synced R1 dub.  Sub color pallette has been imported from the kiches custom disc.  Many thanks to them for the custom R2J!  I only wish that the subs weren’t dubtitles, but that is o/c the fault of Bandai, and having no true fansub alternative.

The R1’s 5.1 is untouched, it was only synced losslessly using delaycut, after I found the delay in Vegas with a wav copy of the R1 dub.

*The R2J audio wouldn’t fit @ the 448 k as on retail, with both Jpn+Eng subs and the R1 5.1 audio added, so rather than do a lossy to lossy transcode from the R2J’s 448, I used the lossless 24 bit LPCM from the BDMV and lowered bit depth to 16 in eac3to and transcoded to 320 using Sonic Audio Transcoder for true Dolby Digital Surround 2.0.  I think it sounds great.

The 5.1 R1 English dub is now the first audio track, and default, likewise the English subs are first sub track.  I imagine this means picking the Japanese subs from menu results in Englsih subs (I cannot read the menu).

Eventually, I will make a custom Subbed+Dubbed BDMV.  The audio sync is nearly identical for the R2J and BDMV, any difference is easily figured out in Vegas and fixed in delaycut.

EDIT: working on the BD now. Plans are to have some minor karaoke if the BD buffer (4 MB) allows it without throwing up. Audio is synced, and if I am not over bitrate, I want to have a 2.0 mix for the English dub, as well as the 5.1.
But mostly I am working on those BD subs now….

Some Updates to Planned Lupin III DVD Projects

Once I have more HDD space, here is the ever-expanding list of Lupin III DVDs I have available for customizing with subs (and, if available, dubs).

  1. Lupin III Movie 1985 The Legend Of The Gold Of Babylon – R2J
  2. Lupin III OVA 1987 The Fuma Clan Conspiracy – R2J
  3. Lupin III TV Special 1990 The Mystery of the Hemingway Papers – R2J
  4. Lupin III TV Special 1991 Napoleon’s Dictionary [Napolean no Jisho wo Ubae] – R2J
  5. Lupin III TV Special 1993 Voyage To Danger Lupin Sansei – Lupin Ansatsu Shirei – R2J
  6. Lupin III TV Special 1994 Dragon of Doom – Lupin Sansei – Moeyo Zantetsuken – Enter Zan Iron Sword – R2J

  8. Lupin III TV Special 1997 IIsland of Assassins (Walther P38) R2J DVD5 reencoded
  9. Lupin III TV Special 1999 The Columbus Files FUJIKO’S Unlucky Days – R2J
  10. Lupin III TV Special 2001 Alcatraz Connection – R2J
  11. Lupin III TV Special 2002 Episode 0 (First Contact) R2J (VPBY11611)
  12. Lupin III TV Special 2004 Stolen Lupin – R2J DVD5 reencoded
  13. Lupin III TV Special 2006 Seven Days’ Rhapsody Lupin Sansei – R2J
  14. Lupin III TV Special 2011 Blood Seal Mermaid Forever (probably a R2J reencoded DVD5 or prerelease bootleg)
  15. Lupin III First TV Series – R2J – I only have volumes 2 and 5 so far. I am hoping to obtain the rest.

I also have Blu-Rays of the Castle of Cagliostro, the Secret of Mamo (aka Lupin vs Clone), and Lupin vs Conan.  But if you read my pleading for donations, you will know these cannot be muxed until I can reinstall Windows which will require a 2 TB HDD.

The DVDs alone will take a long time, since I have very little HDD space to even work on.

Please consider a donation if you want to see me work any faster on some of these titles, and please note what you anticipate the most.

A Few of My Current Projects

Standard

I am currently working on a whole slew of titles.

Now I will start to announce some of these and try to detail the state they are in.

Lupin fans, I have a lot I am planning, even if I can’t get a HDD to work on Cagliostro and Secret of Mamo (aka vs. Clone) Blu-Ray discs.  It will still suck not having a HDD since I barely have disc space to do DVD work.

my current plans for R2J Lupin DVDs are:

  • Lupin III TV Special 1994 Dragon of Doom – (Lupin Sansei – Moeyo Zantetsuken – Enter Zan Iron Sword)
  • Lupin III TV Special 1996 Secret of Twilight Gemini
  • Lupin III TV Special 2002 Episode 0 (First Contact) (VPBY11611)
  • Lupin III TV Special 2006 Seven Days’ Rhapsody
  • Lupin III TV Special 2012 Blood Seal Mermaid Forever (actually this is a DVD5, prerelease bootleg, I am looking for the retail)
  • Lupin III OVA 1987 The Fuma Clan Conspiracy

I will be adding English subtitles, and dubs if they exist.   Some subtitles are being sourced from fansubs, but I have ocred subs from several hard-subbed Lupin fansub videos already.  Some of the ocr scripts require ocr cleanup, but I have done most of that dismal task of ocring already.

I also have some othe Lupin DVDs to add subs and dubs to, the above are the R2J DVDs I have.  I also will be getting more of those made available in the near fututre, so Lupin fans, take note, lots of customs coming sometime…..

Dirty Pair Flight 005 Bandai R2J

I have also basically finished adding the Streamline (original) English dub to the R2J copy of Dirty Pair Flight 005 Conspiracy which already had the R1 DVD English subs and dub and Russian subs added (reauthored by Gloval).  I just want to alter the menu to include an option for the Streamline dub, and I also want to alter the credits menu to add credit for myself and drgonzo369 for supplying the Streamline VHS dub cap.   These things will have to wait until I can get a new HDD to reinstall windows, so that I can also reinstall Adobe Photoshop and all my other Adobe software.  The DVD is otherwise done, I do even have a muxed version (I have had it for 1/2 a year), I just don’t want to show it until I can do the alterations I mentioned.  I am anal.  😀

Raven Tengu Kabuto 1992 OVA – custom DVD from LD and VHS and other sources.  There is no DVD release anywhere.  I am combining the dub from the Manga UK PAL VHS to DVD transfer, with a high quality Jpn LD scan to DVD transfer for the video and Japanese audio, and subs are coming from ocring the the US VHS by LA Hero mixed with a rather meh fansub script.  This has actually been quite a lot of work getting the script to a usable level.  I am really only part way through combining the 2 scripts, then i need to fine-tune it, and check lines for DVD-safe subtitling, etc.  The dub is already timed, atleast.
EDIT: found another fansub, this one softsubbed, done by digi-anime. This one is much better, so I will incorporate it into the mixed-script.

Vifam poster

Round Vernian Vifam (aka Galactic Drifter Vifam) 1983 TV – adding the AC fansubs to R2J DVDs. If anyone has the R2J complete boxset with Vifam 13 and the OVAs on DVD, will you please contact me? I would prefer DVD9 untouched, but the compressed DVD5s from Share would be better than nothing. They are just dead on Share now, so I can’t even get those compressed DVDs now.

I will update more with other projects later, including many non-anime titles.
