So, as much as I don’t like asking for handouts, here I am, asking for handouts.
DONATIONS THROUGH PAYPAL:
I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER POSSIBLE ROUTE OF DONATIONS, I BELIEVE THIS IS ONLY FOR CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES.
SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT AT CHECKFREE:
CHECKFREE IS A METHOD OF FREE ONLINE BILL PAYMENT. SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT COSTS NOTHING (AND CAN MAKE PAYING UTILITIES EASIER, TOO). THEY MAY CHARGE SOME FEE TO SEND MONEY TO OTHER INDIVIDUALS, I HAVEN’T YET LOOKED INTO IT
THEN GO INTO YOUR ACCOUNT AND ON THE RIGHT SIDE COLUMN IS EBILL PAYMENT ABILITIES. ONE OPTION IS “PAY PEOPLE”
I need a new 2 TB HDD so I can back up my main system HDD, and re-install Windows. I can then use the old HDD as a workspace for new custom DVD and BD projects. I haven’t had the HDD workspace for such endeavors as of late.
Currently my Win7 x64 is acting more and more wonky. I am having strange crap going on. you know the drill.
Plus I cannot currently complete my custom BDs that I have otherwise done, since I cannot mux the discs. Scenarist BD’s MUX server is giving me errors.
It isn’t a problem in my firewall settings:
I have uninstalled a ton of other software but still having no luck getting the mux server engine to work. my best bet is to install Sonic Solutions first after Windows7 and updates and drivers, and keep testing Scenarist BD after installing other software, so I know what it is that is interfering and hopefully find a work-around (or just not use the other software that conflicts with Scenarist’s MUX server).
I am new to creating a donation box on a blog, so I just started looking into it. I have a paypal account, I have for many, many years, but I am open to ideas for alternatives. I set up a donate button (I am not going as a non-profit as that causes more problems than its worth). I would honestly prefer something other than PayPal due to the shady things they have done to even Children’s Charities, but I have this paypal option ready to go.
so far the alternatives I know of are:
http://bitcoin.org/ — seems a bit difficult to setup and for the average user to donate to me with this system. It also requires using a P2P like software (probably installed) in order to exchange money. But I still like the idea behind it. It may be my secondary way to take donations.
http://www.chipin.com/ — this option really is not an anlternative to Paypal. It uses Paypal.
There was a service called ScratchBack that was like online tipping, but they have ceased operations, it appears. Too bad as this looks like it would have been my first choice.
The Type of 2 TB HDD I want is a a WD Caviar Black, since this is my main OS. That is what I currently use. If I can’t afford one of them, I may opt for a cheaper drive, but this will result in me doing the arduous task of backing everything up essentially twice — once to the new HDD, then twice back to the drive I use now. With 2 TB this takes a long time (even more so when you are backing up the primary drive).
They have totally used the flooding in Thailand as an excuse to gouge people on the price of HDDs.
The best price I am finding atm is here:
any reputable links to a new 2 TB Caviar Black are appreciated. One thing I don’t want to buy used or refurbished is a HDD. That just stinks of SMART data errors and failures. HDDs are made crappy these days, so I don’t need someone else’s reject.
so obviously I have just added the Paypal link for now. It was the easiet way to atleast start accepting donations.
Please leave a message if you want to donate but want to have another means accepted. Obviously detail those settings, and perhaps I can contact you via email, using the address you leave for posting a comment.
I am also installing bitcoin software, so please contact me if you want to use this method for transferring money.
